Writes the campaign description, reward tier copy, and campaign update text for a crowdfunding campaign for a media project on platforms like Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Seed&Spark.
Writes the campaign description, reward tier copy, and campaign update text for a crowdfunding campaign for a media project on platforms like Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Seed&Spark.
Required: Project title and format, brief description of the project (what it is and why you are making it), fundraising goal, primary audience or community you are appealing to.
Optional: Your background or credentials as a filmmaker or producer, the specific platform (Kickstarter, Indiegogo, etc.), your planned reward tiers and the amounts, what the money will specifically be used for, any existing community (newsletter subscribers, social media following, previous project audience).
Three deliverables: (1) Campaign page copy — headline, opening hook paragraph, full description body (400–600 words), and three-sentence campaign summary for social sharing; (2) Reward tier descriptions — 2–4 tiers with suggested amounts and copy for each; (3) Two sample campaign update posts (150–200 words each). Conversational but purposeful register — the voice of someone making something they believe in, not a sales deck. Output ends with a "Next Step" note: what to set up in the platform before pasting this copy, what launch-day communications to prepare, and whether to run cold-outreach-email-writer for personal outreach to the first-day backer list.
Project: Saltwater — a feature documentary following a marine biologist and a fishing community in conflict over protected ocean zones. The scientist wants them closed; the fishing families depend on them for income. Shot over three years. Format: Feature documentary, 85 minutes Goal: €35,000 Platform: Kickstarter What money funds: Post-production — edit, colour grade, sound mix, festival submission fees Audience: Ocean conservation community, documentary enthusiasts, people from fishing communities My background: First-time feature director; my short film played at two international festivals Reward tiers I'm thinking of: €10, €25, €75, €150
Headline: SALTWATER: A documentary three years in the making — help us finish it
Opening hook: If you've ever stood on a pier watching the last fishing boats come in, or followed the news on marine protected areas and wondered what the people actually living there think — this film is for you.
Campaign description:
SALTWATER is a feature documentary I've spent three years making on the Atlantic coast. It follows two people who are locked in one of the most common conflicts in ocean conservation: a marine biologist who has spent a decade lobbying for the closure of a protected fishing zone, and a family who has fished that zone for four generations and whose livelihood depends on it remaining open.
I've been filming both sides. I've been in the scientist's lab when the data comes in. I've been on the boat at five in the morning. I've been in the room when they had to sit across a table from each other.
The film doesn't take sides. It asks what it costs to be right.
We have everything we need except the finishing money.
Principal photography is complete. We have 180 hours of footage, a cut in progress, and the full cooperation of everyone in the film. What we need to finish SALTWATER is €35,000 for post-production: the edit, colour grade, sound mix, and the submission fees to get it to the festivals where people will actually see it.
Your backing pays for the specific, unsexy, essential work that turns footage into a film.
About the director: This is my first feature documentary. My short film Drift (2022) played at festivals in four countries. SALTWATER is the bigger story I needed more time for.
Three-sentence social summary: SALTWATER is a documentary about the real human cost of ocean conservation, three years in the making. We follow a marine biologist and a fishing family in direct conflict over a protected zone — and we let the complexity breathe. Help us finish it.
€10 — Early Supporter Your name in the credits. You helped make this happen, and we'll make sure that's on the record.
€25 — Credit + Digital Film Your name in the credits, plus a digital copy of SALTWATER when it's released. Watch it. Show it to people.
€75 — Credit + Digital Film + Director's Notes Everything above, plus a written director's commentary on five scenes — what you see, and what happened around it that didn't make the cut.
€150 — Credit + Digital Film + Behind the Scenes Access Everything above, plus access to a private online Q&A with the director and subjects after the premiere. Ask the questions the film doesn't answer.
Subject: 60% funded — and something we can finally share
We're at 60% with 14 days to go, and we want to tell you something we've been holding back.
The scene we were most uncertain about — the one where the scientist and the fishing family's eldest son finally sit in the same room — we filmed it. We watched it back. It's in the film.
We can't share it yet. But we want you to know it exists, and that it changes what this film is.
If you've been sitting on the fence: this is the week to back it. Share the campaign link if you have five seconds. Every backer tells the algorithm the project is real.
Thank you for being here.
Subject: 48 hours left
Two days.
We're at 78% and we need to close this. If we don't hit the goal, Kickstarter returns every pledge and we go back to looking for finishing money the slow way.
We'd rather finish the film.
If you've been meaning to back this: now is the time. If you've already backed it: share it with one person today. That's all we're asking.
SALTWATER is real. The people in it are real. The money goes directly to finishing what we started three years ago.
Thank you — genuinely.
