/pm-business-model answers one question: how does this company make money, and how does it
reach the people who pay? It produces BUSINESS-MODEL.md — the model type, revenue streams,
pricing & packaging, the go-to-market motion, any unit-economics signals, and the riskiest
assumption baked into the model.
It runs in one of two modes, driven by whether BUSINESS-MODEL.md already exists. Refine mode —
the doc exists: the skill anchors on your previous version, pulls only the relevant cross-doc context
via a retrieval subagent, and asks sharpening questions to update it. Create mode — the doc is
missing: if there's a codebase, artifacts, or a public site it reverse-engineers a draft from
pricing/billing signals and the public pricing page and asks validating questions before writing;
if the repo is empty it interviews you from scratch. Either way it confirms with you — it never ships
assumptions unchecked.
This is a Define doc that feeds strategy, objectives, and PRD scope — they must win commercially, not just functionally. Run it early.
