Persona → Product — Problem-First Product Ideation

Take a buyer profile and surface product or service ideas that the persona would actually buy — grounded in their real problems, transformation desires, and psychological constraints.

Input

Accepts one of:

• A buyer profile generated by the buyer-profile skill (just say "use the profile above")
• A pasted buyer profile
• A brief persona description (will generate a quick profile first before ideating)

Process

Phase 1: Extract Problem Signals

Pull these five signals from the profile. If any are missing, ask the user before continuing.

• Core problem — the central, urgent issue
• Failed solutions — what they've already tried and rejected
• Won't-dos — sacrifices, risks, or tasks they refuse
• Transformation desires — the Magic Genie outcomes they want
• Top objections — reasons they'd hesitate to buy

Phase 2: Ideate 5–7 Concepts

Generate product and service concepts that:

1. Directly address the core problem
2. Do NOT replicate a failed solution (or explain why this version is different)
3. Require nothing on the won't-do list
4. Deliver at least one transformation desire
5. Cover a mix of formats: SaaS, physical product, service, community, course, tool, done-for-you, etc.

Phase 3: Evaluate Each Concept

Score each concept against the persona using the rubric in Evaluation Rubric. Surface:

• Strongest emotional hook (which fear or desire drives purchase)
• Primary objection risk (which objection could kill the sale)
• Constraint risk (does it accidentally require a won't-do?)

Phase 4: Present & Rank

Output a ranked list. Lead with the concepts with the highest desire alignment and lowest objection risk.

Output Format

For each concept:

After all concepts, add a Which to build first section: 2–3 sentences recommending the highest-fit concept and why, grounded in the persona's psychology.

Principles

• Constraints are features — the won't-do list is a product spec. Build around it, not against it.
• Emotion closes deals — every concept must have a clear emotional hook, not just a functional one.
• Specificity over range — a product that perfectly solves one problem beats one that partially solves five.
• Failed solutions are market research — if the persona already tried X, your version needs a named reason to be different.
