Commands are programs. This skill is the instruction set for document authoring. +++ directives are instructions — when the processor (you) encounters one, execute its defined procedure. Code blocks within directive definitions are tool call templates: resolve variables and execute them.
Scribe processes documents as a compiler processes source code:
scribe.md (source) → /scribe:draft (frontend — natural language → structured design)
→ /scribe:realize (compiler + linker — design → sections → merged doc → target format)
→ /scribe:reflect (static analyzer — quality check, drift detection)

In Scribe, the document outline defines the scopes. Each top-level section in scribe.md is an independent compilation unit that can be written, reviewed, and revised in parallel.

Scribe commands use domain-specific phase names that map to DDL canonical roles:

scribe.md is the source code — the document design. It defines what to write, not how to write it.

SWARM execution follows DDL-PROTOCOL-SKILL.md §2.4 (TeamCreate → Scale → Spawn → Monitor → Collect → Shutdown). See references/parallel-writing.md for the document-specific collect: microcode — the merge procedure that assembles, links, and optimizes sections after parallel compilation.
Summary: When a document has 2+ top-level sections, spawn one writer agent per section. Each writer receives the section outline, meta settings, and source references. The lead agent executes the collect: microcode: assemble in outline order, resolve cross-references (symbol linking), unify tone (optimization pass), and convert to target format (code generation).
