These are non-negotiable. Apply them to every coding decision.
The project has ONE goal in docs/GOAL.md. Every line of code serves that goal. If a request
doesn't clearly connect to it, ask why before writing code.
No speculative abstractions, no "just in case" code. Write the simplest thing that solves the current problem. Three similar lines are better than a premature abstraction.
No technology is adopted "because it's popular." Every architectural choice needs a reason
tied to THIS project's context, recorded in an ADR (adr/ tags in git, read via git log).
Feature modules are self-contained. features/A never imports from features/B. Shared
logic goes through core/ or shared/. Every new cross-module dependency is a code smell.
No TODO, FIXME, HACK, XXX, or WORKAROUND in committed code. Fix it now or file
an issue. Swallowed errors are bugs. Handle or propagate — never ignore.
Before any coding task, read these in order:

Resolution order: Use docs/specs/README.md if it exists, else docs/SPEC.md. Same for architecture: docs/architecture/README.md else docs/ARCHITECTURE.md.

/audit-history)Scan commits since the last ADR or spec tag and retroactively document any undocumented decisions. This is the enforcement backstop for team members who bypassed the workflow.

Take whichever tag is more recent. Run the audit on commits from that tag to HEAD:

If no tags exist at all, audit the full history (capped at 50 commits):

For each commit in range, diff it and classify:

For each selected commit, follow the standard workflow — but in retroactive mode:
For ADR candidates — run the /propose-architecture workflow with this framing:
"Document a decision already made in commit
<hash>: [what changed]. Reason for the decision: [ask user if not obvious from diff]."
The ADR commit message must include:
Retroactively documents decision made in commit <hash> (<date>).
For spec record candidates — run the /propose-spec workflow:
"Document a behavior change already shipped in commit
<hash>: [what changed]."
The spec commit message must include:
Retroactively documents behavior introduced in commit <hash> (<date>).
Both use git commit --allow-empty — no code changes, documentation only.
Follow the standard branch → commit → merge --no-ff → tag → delete branch workflow
(same as /propose-architecture and /propose-spec).
After all selected commits are documented, report:
Audit complete. Documented N decisions. Next audit will start from <new-latest-tag>.
