Rules

- Save at least one backup copy of the project folder to a different physical location (external drive, cloud) at the end of every working session; drives fail without warning.
- The working brush opacity should rarely exceed 70% during the painting stage; very high opacity single-stroke painting reduces the ability to blend and build form gradually.
Common Mistakes
- Working at full resolution from the start — zooming to 100% and detailing before the composition and values are resolved wastes time on details that will be painted over or deleted.
- Unlimited layers without organization — a file with 200 unnamed layers in a flat list cannot be revised efficiently; layer discipline is not optional on professional projects.
- Using too many brushes — switching to a "better brush" is a procrastination behavior; consistent results come from mastery of a few brushes, not from the breadth of the library.
- Ignoring color profile management — artwork created in AdobeRGB that is delivered to a web client without conversion will appear oversaturated on standard screens; color profile management is a technical requirement, not optional.
- Not version-saving before major changes — applying a filter, color grade, or compositional change without saving a version first means the previous state is unrecoverable if the change fails; always version before major transformations.
