Power Automate Skill

A Claude Code plugin for creating, deploying, and managing Power Automate cloud flows as JSON definitions. Built following the conventions of the official Microsoft Power Platform Skills.

What It Does

This plugin lets you author Power Automate cloud flows entirely as code (JSON), validate them locally, and deploy them to any Dataverse environment — all from within Claude Code or GitHub Copilot CLI.

Prerequisites

Before using this plugin, install the following tools:

Installation

Option 1: Claude Code Plugin (Recommended)

claude plugin add jsl1995/power-automate-skill

This registers the plugin so that /create-flow, /deploy-flow, and /list-flows are available as slash commands in Claude Code.

Option 2: Clone and Use Locally

git clone https://github.com/jsl1995/power-automate-skill.git
cd power-automate-skill

Then point Claude Code at it:

claude plugin add --local ./plugins/power-automate

Setup

1. Authenticate with PAC CLI

Connect to your Dataverse environment:

pac auth create --environment "https://yourorg.crm11.dynamics.com"

This opens a browser for interactive login. Verify the connection:

pac org who

You should see your environment name, URL, and user email.

2. Authenticate with Azure CLI

The Flow API requires an Azure CLI token:

az login

3. Verify Everything Works

pac org who

# Check Azure CLI
az account show --query user.name -o tsv

node --version

Usage

Create a New Flow

Use natural language to describe what the flow should do:

/create-flow a daily flow that checks for new system users and sets their timezone to BST

The skill walks you through 7 phases:

1. Verify Prerequisites — Checks PAC CLI and authentication
2. Gather Requirements — Confirms trigger type, tables, and business logic
3. Research Dataverse Schema — Queries table/column metadata from your environment
4. Design the Flow — Presents the flow architecture for your approval
5. Author the Flow JSON — Writes the complete flow definition file
6. Validate the Flow — Runs structural validation
7. Review & Deploy — Offers to deploy to your environment

Deploy an Existing Flow

If you already have a flow JSON file:

/deploy-flow flows/my-flow.json

The skill validates the JSON, confirms the target environment, deploys via the Flow API, and optionally adds it to a Dataverse solution.
