English Tutor Plugin for Claude Code

An English writing tutor plugin for Korean speakers. Automatically checks your grammar, translates Korean text, and teaches prompt engineering patterns — all within Claude Code.

Features

• Grammar & Expression Check — Finds grammatical errors, awkward expressions, and unnatural phrasing in your prompts. Shows original → corrected versions.
• Korean → English Translation — Detects Korean text and provides natural English translations with alternative phrasings.
• Prompt Pattern Tips — Teaches a new prompt engineering pattern on every prompt (e.g., role-play, step-by-step, comparison frameworks).

Installation

1. Add the marketplace:

/plugin marketplace add geusan/claude-skills-english-tutor

2. Install the plugin:

/plugin install english-tutor@english-tutor

Usage

Once installed, the tutor activates automatically on every prompt. It prepends a short tutor section before Claude's main response:

Toggle On/Off

Use the /tutor command to toggle the tutor:

/tutor
→ English Tutor: OFF ⛔

/tutor
→ English Tutor: ON ✅

How It Works

The plugin uses a UserPromptSubmit hook that:

1. Reads your prompt
2. Skips slash commands and empty prompts
3. Checks if the tutor is disabled (via /tutor toggle)
4. Detects Korean characters using Python regex
5. Injects an <english-tutor> system reminder with your prompt context

Requirements

• Claude Code CLI
• Python 3 (for Korean character detection)
• jq (for JSON parsing)
