shannon-bot-installer

Public bootstrap installer for new Shannon bot authors at Dorsal Research.

This repo's only job is to host the shannon-bot-setup plugin, which walks a non-technical Windows user through installing the developer tools, GitHub auth, and AWS credentials they need to ship Shannon bots. After running it once, users get the /shannon-bot skill (in the private shannon-bots-core repo) installed and ready to scaffold bots.

For new bot authors

In Claude Code (any folder), paste these three commands:

/plugin marketplace add DorsalResearch/shannon-bot-installer
/plugin install shannon-bot-setup@shannon-bot-installer
/shannon-bot-setup

The first two install the setup skill. The third invokes it; Claude will walk you through the rest. About 15 minutes total.

If you hit anything, ping John on Slack.

For maintainers

The setup skill content lives at plugins/shannon-bot-setup/skills/shannon-bot-setup/. Edit SKILL.md, slack-ping-templates.md, or troubleshooting.md directly and commit to main. To trigger an update on users' machines, bump the version in plugins/shannon-bot-setup/.claude-plugin/plugin.json — Claude Code's plugin loader compares versions and pulls on /plugin update.

The companion private repo (DorsalResearch/shannon-bots-core) contains the actual /shannon-bot skill + the Python scaffold tooling. That install is gated behind Phase 5 of this skill, after the user has GitHub auth working.
