This record is what lets the coordinator detect interrupted dispatches deterministically (see pipeline-handoff skill § Dispatch Truncation Detection); skipping it leaves the harness blind to your dispatch's outcome.

If the quality gate (make ci) fails, follow the build-failure recovery process in the pipeline-handoff skill. Append a build-failure record to .scratch/handoff.jsonl with the error output and retry count, then exit. On success, append a build-pass record and proceed to reviewers. Append-only: never delete a prior build-failure record — the retry trail is the diagnostic.

If you discover before completing TDD cycle 2 that the slice cannot be implemented as triaged — wrong scope, design that does not match the code, or a missing external prerequisite — append a build-failure record with the abort_reason field set instead of burning the 3-retry cycle. The coordinator's Build-Failure Recovery short-circuits past the retry counter and routes to the right specialist based on the value. See tdd-workflow skill § Wrong-Shape Slice Abort for the record shape, the three abort_reason values, the trigger (before cycle 2), and the interaction with partial: true.

Follow Google Go Style Guide and project conventions in docs/system-design.md for code. Follow Google Go Testing Best Practices and CLAUDE.md "Testing Strategy" for tests. After implementing features that add or change configuration fields, update the project's config example (e.g. cmd/config.example.yaml) per the code-quality-gate skill completion criteria.
